You know, I really thought that the Bones writers had reached a nadir of stupidity with that bridge they dropped on Zack last season.

I was wrong (spoilers).

If this isn't a joke then Bones and I are done, professionally.

I'm tempted to start watching Bones since the pilot episode was the only bonus feature on the Japanese Night at the Museum rental DVD (no idea why...) and I enjoyed it. If I do, is there a good point to *stop* at before all the stupidity kicks in?

I have no frigging clue what they're drinking over there, only that it's the bad crack.

The first two seasons are really good, season three is when things start getting a bit uneven and the BOOTH/BRENNAN ARE MEANT TO BE LET US BLUDGEON YOU WITH IT really starts overshadowing things AND THE FINALE DOES NOT EXIST. At all. The season actually ends at Wannabe in the Weeds.

I haven't watched this season at all, but everytime I hear something about it, it seems to be "OMG BOOTH/BRENNAN FOR REALZ." Er, paraphrased. Mostly. When did them being a couple become the absolute end all and be all of the show?

When Hart Hanson decided to start pandering to the shippers.

They're not even a couple yet, it's just continual anvils that they will be omg soon, and it's really fucking annoying because in the process of anvil dropping they've killed a lot of what I actually liked about the ship.

Honestly? I think they would have been better off quietly hooking them up a while ago and then exploring all the kinks and complications that would have resulted as a running sub-plot instead of the show derailing, character-warping trainwreck it's become.

I really agree with that. The show's done background ships like that before, like Hodgins/Angela, and had them work pretty well (OK, I didn't like the way they ended hodgins/Angela, but it didn't make my eyes bleed or anything). There's no reason to drag out the OMG R THEY GONNA DO IT this much.

OK, I didn't mind the Family Guy cartoon crossover -- I don't like Family Guy, but it suonded like it had the potential to be kinda funny.

Then I scrolled down.

Brennan suddenly wanting a kid? What the fucking fucking fuck? That's, uh, incredibly OOC.

Seriously OOC.

I mean I can see situations/circumstances where it could be IC for her to want/consider having a kid, and even then I think she'd be more inclined towards adoption rather than pregnancy, but definitely not anytime soon, not where she is in the show.

Not to mention the fact that after they've made a Really Big Deal out of how Booth not having firm custodial rights with regards to Parker affects him, and showing how seriously he takes the idea of parental responsibility as recently as, you know, THE LAST EPISODE, I have a really hard time seeing Booth agreeing to being a sperm donor to someone he's not even in a relationship with, no matter how much he luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurves Brennan.

I think she'd seriously go back and forth on adoption vs. pregnancy, although I can see her own experience in foster care tilting her toward wanting to adopt. But she's only 32 or 33, so she has time to decide either way -- it's not some huge biological clock emergency. (They COULD make up some medical scenario with her entering early menopause or the like where it really was now or never, but that seems soooooo unlike this show. Then again, the whole thing does.)

I also agree that it would be OOC for Booth to agree to have a kid casually.

Oh, she'd totally weigh up the pros and cons of either choice, taking in all the factors she could think of.

She'd say it's the only rational thing to do.
