Going to try and ease back into posting, and why not start with a fic announcement?
How Could We Miss Someone as Dumb as This? (2411 words) by
Froggimus_Rex
Fandom: She-Ra and the Princesses of Power
Pairing: Catra/Adora
Rating: Explicit
Summary:But the way Adora was kissing her, that was definitely not part of the plan. If Catra didn't put a stop to it soon, she might do something really dumb.
Instead, she just let Adora keep kissing her, which was the complete opposite of doing something.
So I didn't intend on writing a sequel to she was doing good (until the cat got her), but then this happened, though technically it's more of slight-AU since the original ended with Catra running away from the feels. And speaking of AUs, I ended up writing two endings for this fic(which considering the trouble I sometimes have with writing just the one ending...) but one just felt far too mean to Scorpia and left Adora in a very awkward position in all senses of the word, so it got trashed.
But I'm still quite fond of it, so here it is...
"That was great."
"You really think so?" It was blinding that grin of Adora's, and bewildering, and it broke her heart a little the way she'd respond like that to the tiniest hint of praise, but Catra couldn't find the right words to make her see sense, do what she wanted, come home to her. She shifted up so she could kiss Adora, slow and languid, so she didn't have to think about anything anymore.
"Yeah," she said between kisses, and because it was like she was unable to keep herself from pushing Adora's buttons "I was pretty awesome. I guess you were okay."
Adora snorted against her mouth, and Catra could feel her muscles tensing right before she flipped them over, grinning triumphantly as she pinned Catra's hands to the floor. "Want to try that again?"
"As I was saying, okay, you're the best I've ever had." Not hard when she was the only she'd ever had, and they both knew it, but Adora's laughter rang out like a bell, and her hair, now well and truly pulled loose, fell around their faces in a golden curtain as she bent down for more kissing, and for a moment, everything was perfect.
"Catra! Hey, Catra! We got the sword! And that friend of Ado-...oh you're... busy. You're busy." Catra felt a chill that had nothing to do with the floor run up her spine as she realised that she might have completely forgotten the plan, but Scorpia obviously hadn't.
Adora pulled back, and she looked down at her with that sad, desperate expression where she understood what was happening, but didn't want to. "Catra?"
"I can explain." And she could. Scorpia hadn't set the explosives off yet, so she could totally come up with a way to explain this where they hadn't just stolen her magic sword or kidnapped one of her new friends despite doing exactly that. "So, we, uh, kinda, maybe..."
Before she could get very far, Adora's eyes rolled up into her head, and she slumped heavily forwards. "Great explanation, Catra." Was Scorpia being sarcastic? No, she couldn't be, not Scorpia. But there was definitely something off about her tone as she scooped Adora's limp form off Catra and dumped her on the drapes she'd acquired from somewhere. All while keeping her eyes firmly directed at the ceiling. "But time's a-wasting and we've got a plan."
Right the plan. Not that she'd been great at sticking to it, but Catra was pretty sure at no point had the plan involved rolling Adora up in curtains and slinging her over anyone's shoulder. She wasn't complaining, exactly, because it turned out she kind of liked the idea of Scorpia just casually manhandling a half-naked Adora like that, go figure, but something was definitely wrong here.
"Might want to get dressed there." See, there was again, Scorpia sounded cheerful but also...wait, she hadn't thought this was a real date, had she? "It's a bit brisk out."
Oh crap, she totally had. And now she...oh, this was going to be the most awkward trip ever. Especially if Adora woke up before they got back to the Fright Zone.
