O Splendiferous Yulegoat, thank you so much for offering one of these fandoms, because they're all shows or books that I adore.

I like a whole range of fic, and I'm pretty easy to please, and while I have more to say about some of these fandoms than the others I wouldn't have asked for any of them if I wasn't equally excited about the possiblity of getting fic for them, (which would be why I don't have any really short fandoms this year, sorry about that), so whichever fandom we matched on or you end up writing for, I'm sure it'll be awesome.

O yuletide writer, we've matched on one of these fandoms, which means you are possessed of incredibly discerning taste, and I'll no doubt adore whatever you end up writing. So thank you in advance.

Yes, so yet another Yuletide is over and done and revealed.

I recieved...

On Formally Undecidable Propositions in Principia Mathematica (1003 words) by custardpringle
Fandom: Thrilling Adventures of Lovelace and Babbage
Summary: The Analytical Engine has no pretensions whatever to originate anything. It can do whatever we know how to order it to perform. It can follow analysis; but it has no power of anticipating any analytical relations or truths. --Ada Lovelace

In which Ada Lovelace deals with a snarky AI/chatbot in the Difference Engine.

And I wrote...

The Unpaid Overtime Complication (3231 words) by Froggimus_Rex
Fandom: The Middleman (TV)
Summary: "Dub Dub, why is there a cat crate full of teacup kaiju in our living room?"

In which Wendy Watson must deal with teacup kaiju, a snarky AI, and a supervillian with a naming problem.

Snarky AIs seem to be theme this year.

First and most importantly, the story I got was:

Trixie Belden and the Mystery in the 12th Precinct (5533 words) by faviconhhertzof
Fandom: Trixie Belden Mysteries - Julie Campbell Tatham & Kathryn Kenny, Castle
Rating: General Audiences
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Trixie Belden, Honey Wheeler, Richard Castle, Kate Beckett
Summary:

Trixie's been framed for murder and now she has to rely on an old friend to help her clear her name and figure out who is out to get her.

It's the Trixie Belden/Castle crossover I never knew I always wanted, with mystery, and banter, and a dash of femslash for seasoning, and it's mine, ALL MINE!

Secondly, the story I wrote was:

Spaceman Spiff and the Alien Conspiracy (1844 words) by faviconFroggimus_Rex
Fandom: Calvin & Hobbes
Rating: General Audiences
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Calvin (Calvin and Hobbes), Hobbes (Calvin and Hobbes), Mrs Wormwood (Calvin and Hobbes), Rosalyn (Calvin and Hobbes)
Summary:

"Don't worry, I'm sure he'll be fine."

She dropped her hand to to stare incredulously at the tiger. "Let me repeat," she said, very slowly. "Calvin has a weapon whose power is only limited by his imagination."

"I said he'd be fine, nothing about the rest of us."

Which, uh, did okay, to put it mildly. Especially since I would have been happy with just my recipient liking it.

Dear Yulegoat,

Firstly thanks heaps for volunteering to write in one of these fandoms, any of which I'd be happy to receive fic for.

Dear Yulegoat,

We matched on at least one of my fandoms, so clearly you are made of win and I'll love whatever you write. Especially since a fic for any of these fandoms involving these characters doing pretty much anything will make me a very happy fangirl

That said, if you'd like something more specific than 'anything' here's a bunch of fannish babble and anything in here that sparks your fancy, go wild.

General babbling )

Specific Babbling - Better Off Ted, Legend of the Seeker, Robot Unicorn Attack, Thrilling Adventures of Lovelace and Babbage )

The story I received was Killing Things In Pretty Dresses (The Guild) by [livejournal.com profile] sithwitch13. It's one-sided Codex/Riley, with backrubs and Codex adorably oblivious to being hit on. I heart it so.

I wrote the Casino Royale-verse Bond/M fic, If Headaches Persist, Shoot Your Agent, for [livejournal.com profile] blacksquirrel. It was a bit harder to bash into shape than I thought it'd be, but I'm quite pleased with how it turned out.

Title: If Headaches Persist, Shoot Your Agent
Fandom: James Bond: Casino Royale-verse
Summary: Bond's a headache even at the best of times, but he's M's headache.
Pairing: Bond/M
Rating: PG-13
Word count: 2,074
Notes: Written for [livejournal.com profile] blacksquirrel as part of Yuletide 2009. Originally posted here.

This is only my second Yuletide, and my first where I've actually written a letter, so apologies for getting a bit babbly and tl;dr.

First off, thank you so much for writing for me. All of these are fandoms and characters that I crave fic for, so whatever you end up writing in whichever fandom I'm going to be ecstatic.

Which means you can pretty much ignore the most of the herds of teal deer below if you need to.

Here thar be teal deer )
Once again, thank you for writing a story in one of my fandoms for me, and I'm sure that whatever you end up writing will be totally awesome.

Title: Selected Notes on the Mysterious Disappearance of Doctor Kindermann
Fandom: Die Anstalt
Rating: PG
Word count: 1836
Beta: [livejournal.com profile] steelneko
Summary: An epistolary tale examining the mysterious disappearance of controversial psychologist Doctor Johann Kindermann whilst attending the 3rd International Congress of Unusual Psychiatry in Nuuk, Greenland.
Notes: Written for [livejournal.com profile] whetherwoman for this year's [livejournal.com profile] yuletide. I had rather a lot of fun fiddling with the html formatting for the original version for the archive, and while waiting for the author reveal I kind of...made a graphic version as well.

( Text Only Version At Yuletide Archive )

Graphic Version - Warning: Image Heavy )
froggimus_rex: (Bond - Vesper and the suitcase fairy)
So this was my first time doing [livejournal.com profile] yuletide, and after a certain amount of panicking and flailing, I ended up writing Selected Notes on the Mysterious Disappearance of Doctor Kindermann for [livejournal.com profile] whetherwoman.

As far as receiving goes, I lucked out and got two great fics.

Sur Le Pont d'Avignon by Scylla was my main story. It's a Vesper-POV Casino Royale fic, and I really can't come up with enough superlatives for it. It's lovely, especially in terms of capturing the complexity of Vesper's feelings.

I also got In Dreams, a wonderful His Dark Materials drabble from white_hart. It's Serafina Pekkala/Mary Malone and fills me with shippy glee.
